Chicken Salad Sandwich?
For about a year now, Sainsburys have been selling gluten free pre made sandwiches.
Before they changed to the classic sandwich, they sold gluten free rolls, which personally I preferred.
The roll never fell apart, they were always filled to the brim, and never soggy.
Now it's a very different story.
I work above a Sainsburys Local and was delighted to see they sold Gluten Free sandwiches as part of their '£3 meal deal'. Normally Sainsburys 'free from' products are very good, but for some reason the prepared sandwich isn't that great. Out of 10...I would rate it 5.
The bread usually falls apart before you can even get it out of the packet.
Sometimes there is barely any filling in them, maybe one lettuce leaf and a few pieces of chicken, and the bread is more often than not soggy.
I am not one to complain because I love the fact I can buy a pre-made sandwich on my lunch break...but Sainsburys, come'on we can do a bit better than this?
Having stated the bad bits, I have to admit it is rather handy having them included in the meal deal. Most of us on the GF diet know that food can be expensive because of the way its made, and the products used to make it...lets just hope that with higher demand the prices are lowered!
Lets just say that M&S have the advantage over Sainsburys on the sandwich front ... for a sandwich that is full sized, doesn't fall apart and has adequate, consistent filling!
