Irresistible Taste You Can Trust

The guys at Ilumi were nice enough to send me some of their Gluten Free products.

I received Portuguese Piri Piri Rice, Basil and Garlic Chicken Meatballs in Tomato Sauce, Mediterranean style rice with Pork and Chorizo and a beef stew.

I love anything Mediterranean so this range was perfect for me.

My pouches came in a nice box, with a leaflet and flyer explaining about the products and the company.

As the sun has been shining in London for nearly 2 weeks, my boyfriend and I decided to have a BBQ last weekend. The Portuguese piri piri rice made a great contribution to our meal, and was so much nicer than having stodgy potatoes. At first glance the rice did not look that appetizing. I am not sure if this is because I had put it in a terracotta tapas bowl. Even though the colouring wasn't like your average ‘spicy rice’ in Nandos, it tasted very good! I was pleasantly surprised. 

I was even more surprised that it tasted good and only took 1 minute in the microwave! My Boyfriend seemed to like it too, and it complimented our BBQ nicely. 

Then the sunshine faded and the rain came, and I completely forgot to take a photo to upload!!

I was intrigued at the other items I had received, so I took them in to work for lunch on a few occasions, as they are easy to microwave and perfect for people who don’t have a lot of spare time to take a break.

The Basil and Garlic Meatballs in Tomato sauce were first on my lunch list. Teamed with some Glutafin fibre pasta I had cooked at home, it made a great lunch.

The tomato sauce was nice, and not too tangy. It didn’t taste as though it had come from a microwave pouch either. The meatballs themselves were really good. You would have never had guessed they were chicken. They had loads of flavour, and I had about 6 large meatballs in my pouch. I have been converted. It was actually very nice.

Next I tried the Mediterranean Style Rice with Pork and Chorizo. Something I was very much looking forward to.

I have to say, it was the tastiest rice and tasted like something straight off a plane from Spain. The pork wasn’t dry and I wolfed the whole thing down in about 2 minutes flat. The whole pack was gone so quick my colleague even asked if I had inhaled it.

I am not a stew fan. I never have been and I don’t think I ever will be. There has always been something about strewed vegetables and meat I just dislike.

This of course is my personal opinion. 

I tried the stew, but I wasn't a fan. I think this is because I just have it in my head that I don't like stew if it's called a stew! 

The flavours were all there though and it tasted very nice.

The meat was very tender, and again I couldn't really believe that it had taken 2 mins in the microwave! 

They are a great price too. All products range from just £1 (YES £1!!) to £3.75 which is actually better than some sandwiches available on the market. 

Not only are they healthy, Gluten and Nut Free, but they also taste great.
