Glutafin Fibre Pasta

The guys at Glutafin head office were kind enough to send me through some of their new Gluten Free Fibre Spaghetti and Fusilli Pasta to try. I was so excited when the postman delivered my box, even though it was before 7am on a Monday Morning.

I am a big pasta fan and had high hopes for the Glutafin fibre pasta.

I am currently training for a 10K run for Cancer Research, so training is well and truly underway. I thought, GREAT, fibre pasta, not only is it the healthier option, it's going to help me with the slow release of the Carbohydrates (great for long distance running). So I conducted a little test.

On Monday night I ate a bowl of normal Gluten Free Pasta which is primarily made from Corn. I went for a run and was exhausted by the time I got back (and had to stop half way as well).
On Tuesday night I did exactly the same run, same amount of KMs but instead of normal Gluten Free Pasta I had a plate of Glutafin's Fibre Spaghetti with Salmon and salad.
Not only did I feel like I had more energy before my run, but I also ran for a lot longer than I normally would have.

I carried on the experiment and last night went for another run after eating the Fibre Fusilli.
This time I had it with Chicken, Chorizo, and Char-Grilled Peppers. After feeling more full than I usually would eating pasta (I even had some left over for lunch!) I managed to run my best time yet, because I seemed to have more energy for longer.

The Pasta itself cooked well and although it took slightly longer than other GF pasta, I had already expected it to take slightly longer, by comparing the times on the box to that on the packet of supermarket GF pasta.

Overall, the texture of the pasta was good and was not grainy like some pasta can be.

I will most definitely be eating these boxes, and even though it may take me a long time to get through them (because it is so filling and keeps you fuller for longer)!

Thank you Glutafin for sending me these samples to try, your products are so much better then when I was first diagnosed with Coelaic Disease, and instead of not submitting my prescriptions because I ended up wasting the food (because I hated it) I think in the future I will be taking a more regular visit to my local pharmacy.

I have most definitely got over my fear of going to the Pharmacy to collect my box of essentials.

Have a look on Glutafin's website and make sure you visit their Facebook page and give them a like!
