I love a snack at work. My latest snacking craze is crisps,
especially vegetable ones. I never used to be a fan, or a snacker for that
matter…but recently, while working long hours and having no time to really
venture out for lunch my diet has somewhat slipped. But to be honest, reading
the packet of these Veronica’s crisps, there wasn’t a reason NOT to eat them.
There are a few different types and flavours of Veronica’s
crisps, and I have to say I was quite excited to try them. The scrummy flavours I received were: tomato
and paprika vegetable crisps, barbecue and sour cream and onion and Cheesy Crunchy Creatures.
They were delivered on Friday, and straight away I knew I would
love the barbecue flavour. Anything barbecue is my favourite, but a lot of
crisp brands aren't gluten free, which makes me very sad!
I hate to admit it but I ate three packets over the weekend.
I couldn’t help myself! But with 60% less fat…and at under 100 calories a
packet…does it matter? No that’s what I thought!
I was right however, in that my favourite flavour was the
barbecue. They were so yummy I just wished the packet was bigger (purely on a
greedy level, not a critic of the size of the packet)! Mind you for 79p (RRP) a
packet, it’s not too bad. Even a packet of ready salted Walkers crisps is over 60p
(as well as packed with saturated fat, grease and goodness knows what else)!
They were crispy with a baked texture, rather than deep fried, non greasy, and crunchy.

Next were these little fellows, which are marketed
towards children with the bright orangy/yellow packaging with a big orange
dinosaur on the front. I don’t care though, like I have said before I will try
anything but I also got some help with this one. My cousin’s daughter who has
just turned one loved them. They even stopped in its tracks a massive tantrum,
so I guess she must have liked them!! I asked if my cousin would buy them
again, and she said she would. They have 40% less fat than usual baked crisps for
children and toddlers and they are organic, and they are only 89p per packet
(RRP). Best of both worlds, tasty and reasonable.
Here’s another example that Gluten Free foods don’t necessarily
have to be extortionately expensive, so to you Veronica's, I am grateful.
Rating:
8/10 Thank you Veronica’s! You saved a tantrum and saved me
from a rumbly stomach over the weekend.
