Purition Natural Protein Shakes

It's been exactly a year since I started my 'healthy' lifestyle pledge. Not only eating healthier, but training in the gym 3-4 times a week.

I have to admit, there are points in time when my training regime and diet have been stricter... but all in all I have maintained some form of physical training at least once or twice a week.

As we head back to the lighter evenings, and towards the summer the regime has begun to pick up traction again, and with a weekend away to Spain with the girls coming up in May, I need to get back into shape and fit into those bikinis that have been hidden away since August!

I normally drink protein after a training session to help the repairing process, but sometimes I have to admit they make me feel sick because they are either too sweet, or have a grainy texture.

While most protein shakes are gluten free, they don't necessarily have all the goodness in them you could get from natural protein sources. This is where Purition comes into play.

It can be used as pre or post workout protein shake, or a meal replacement shake. I tried one first thing in the morning, mixed with banana and strawberries, and it kept me full until about 2 pm, which I was really impressed as I usually get peckish an crave an elevenses.

I also tried the chocolate flavour as a post training protein shake.

Packed full of natural goodness, these shakes are not packed full of fillers, like you can find with the conventional 'protein shakes'.

They are vegan, dairy free, gluten free, full of natural protein, fibre and low in sugar.

What more could you want to assist you with your fitness journey?

Whether it's losing weight or to maintain a healthy lifestyle, these natural protein shakes are a great addition to your routine.

Be healthy, love lots and enjoy life.

Why Do You Gym? - Why Wouldn't You?

So very often I get the line 'Why do you go to the gym, it's a waste of money and time?', 'You don't need to...you're gluten free, so you will always be skinny'.

The last quote is something that really bugs me. I am not slim because I am a coelaic. Not at all. I can't eat certain things...yes but that doesn't mean you have a free pass to eat all the gluten free junk food you like (because you can still get gluten free junk food for all the ignorant people out there).

And anyway, being skinny is not the point.
Neither is the fact that I have to follow gluten free diet. I don't have a choice.

I go to the gym to feel good. Not only about my body (of course it helps) but also to clear my mind.

I can't even imagine being the person I was before I started really committing time to the gym. I was moody (don't get me wrong...I still can be...), tired all the time (I couldn't even get out of bed), down and low and had a very low perception of myself.

At that time, I had a bit of a rubbish job, and worked long hours, and with that comes not eating properly, or sleeping properly. I turned my life around about a year ago. I started working my contracted hours, leaving work on time and making time to go to the gym.

It sounds ever so cliché, but going to the gym, committing time to myself 3-4 times a week is my sanctuary. I clear my mind, I think of nothing but what weight dumbbell I am going to pick up next.
The most important part of the above sentence is committing time for me.

Sometimes in life we feel we have to do things for everyone else and we forget our own needs. As selfish as it seems, I like those 4 hours a week where I have no signal on my phone, and it's just me, my water bottle, weights and trainers.

So for those of you that pre judge those that do something for themselves, don't.

I don't go to the gym to lose weight, burn as many calories as possible or remain 'skinny'.
I do it for me. Because I enjoy it.

Why don't you go and do something just because you want to. some much needed 'you' time from the hectic occurrence we call life.

Home made Turkey Burgers

I love cooking, and I have just moved into my own flat, with my own gluten free kitchen, so expect some more recipe posts soon!

As most of you know, I go to the gym on a regular basis, and like to eat well to go with it. The last few weeks have been difficult, and so I haven't been eating as well as I could have been - but now, I am settled the healthy eating is back!

These turkey burgers are great in or out of a bun, and really low in fat!

Ingredients:

I pack turkey mince
1 egg
1/2 tsp of smoked paprika
salt
pepper
lemon zest

Method:

Empty the turkey mine into a large bowl

Add the paprika, salt and pepper

Mix in the egg to combine the mince

Shape into small/medium sized patties

Grill for 10-15 minutes depending on the thickness of the burger

Serve with your favourite sides

I had mine with pesto courgetti, steamed kale and sugar snaps. No carbs, low in fat and incredibly nutritious!

Try them out for a post gym 'clean' meal.
